 St. Peter's Basilica
« Thread Started on Apr 25, 2008, 5:29pm »

St. Peter's Basilica, the most imposing church in Christendom, is the prime destination for many tourists. Michelangelo created the dome for this masterpiece of the Italian Renaissance, which is approached through a monumental piazza. The basilica is part church, part art gallery, part sarcophagus; beneath the floor is a chamber where past popes have been interred. Naturally, this place is heavily guarded by Vatican secret service officials, often posing as staff.

Given that many of the most powerful agents of the Vatican often operate in this area, fighting is not suggested and always a suicidal endeavor.

As a student, sometimes it was good that she ended up at St. Peter's at random times of the year.... Helped when she had reports on all sorts of things; History, Art, Religion...

Currently, the dark haired College Student was standing in front of a timeless piece of artwork, scribbling furiously in her small notebook, pretty much rewriting what it said on the plaque. It wasn't plagerism, honest! She'd put everything all together when she got to her computer.

A young man that looked to be a tourist from the East entered the Basilica around five minutes later seemingly at random. But at least he had come through the main enterance rather than some type of inexplicable one that showed off theatricality to all those present. Placed on his arm like an oversized bracelet was a golden ring that looked to have a few arcane designs carved into the surface.

The strange air about him might only be sensed by those with sensitivity in that rather specific calling. In the eyes of all others he merely appeared as someone with an odd taste in fashion. Or from another point of view one might mistake him as a member of some underground j-rock band. He was walking around inside the famous structure now, perhaps a hundred or so feet from the young lady taking notes.

Do you know what it's all about?
Are you brave enough to figure out?
Know that you could set your world on fire
If you are strong enough to leave your doubts

Feel it, breathe it, believe it
And you'll be walkin' on air
Go try, go fly, so high
You'll be walkin' on air

She could turn this into a 5-page report, right? Right, after all, the maricals of the internet still existed like Google and Yahoo... oh, and the libary, that always worked too. Finally she lifted gray-blue eyes away from her notes, pen now stilled. Hmm...

She searched the painting for anymore hidden meanings before turning around and closing the mini-notebook. Ok, part one of the research done... now she could chill for a bit while she looked for her next subject. The young woman brushed off her shirt, giving the bottom a tug so that the star that was emblazoned on the side wasn't crumpled before casting her gaze around the Art Gallery. It was quiet, and mostly empty. It was the middle of the afternoon, after all. Most people were at work, not enjoying spashes of paint on canvaes other forms or artwork.

One man caught her eye, mostly because of his...well, non-conservative dress. Wow that was pretty intresting... too bad he wasn't a art piece. The thought caught her off guard, and made the woman laugh lightly to herself.

Laughter did not seem to catch his attention, looking at a certain painting on the ceiling which had caught his eye. It almost looked as though he were trying to win a staring contest with God the way he looked at it so intensely. Just what was it about the amalgam of olors done so perfectly that had meaning to him? Could a man with no memories beyond a month ago find meaning in something?

To be honest though this man wasn't here for touristing purposes, which some of the staff around here might have figured out by looking at what he wore: a compass. One which had been given to him by a member of Iscariot named Father Teach. A compass that served as a deterent from making deals with devils. . .said to explode if any such associations were made. Should anyone that knew the agent of Iscariot they might wonder just what was going on right now.

Had he come here to find Father Teach?

It seemed to catch Calista's attention as well. Even though she wasn't publicly affiliated with the Iscariot, nothing more than a good-luck charm to them, she was still interested in finding the meaning of this.

So, she moseyed her way over to the male, her eyes turning up skyward-or ceilingward- as she approached. She gave him a moment to notice her presence before speaking. "Magnificent just isn't a big enough word to describe it, huh?" This was said with a smile... She always seemed to be smiling. After all, she was just a College student of the Catholic faith, nothing more~

Mostly.

"Yeah. . ."

The words came from him after realizing that the voice & comment had been directed at him. He also turned to look at her directly, finishing his glance up at the artwork that might put a creak in someone's neck after a while. Which, in itself turned out to be rather easy considering the girl's proximity to his own body. Not that she was pressing up against him or anything. Yet. Bow-chicka-bow-wow.

"So what made you come over here anyway? Was it my overwhelming hotness?"

Lancelot had decided to open his mouth, but since the girl did not know of his existence she might not brush it off like Tomas. The most suspicious part was that Raijin's lips had not moved at all, leaving the source of the voice as questionable. In fact the remark might get the poor Amnesiac slapped if he did not explain himself quickly. Needless to say the Halo/ Ring was slid up his arm until it was partially underneath the young man's armpit.

She gave the man a odd look, then turned her head to look around. Had that come from him? "...Excuse me?" She didn't seem offended, more like confused, and a tad bit suprised.

Seeing as how Calista was just a normal human with an element she couldn't conrtol, she didn't have any extra sense that told her the voice had come from anyone else, other than the fact it sounded slightly diffrent than his first words... but of course, he had only said one thing to her!

"Ah please forgive me, sometimes my little translator hears one word and puts it in the wrong context."

The truth was, this young man only spoke in Japanese, whereas a certain little familiar companion could speak perfect english. Indeed he served as a translator the Amnesia who was on a quest for memories. So far they had not gotten into an argument that resulted in a break of their agreement for correct translation. Unfortunately it also meant that anyone who did not know japanese would be unsure if the words were the translated ones from Raijin or came directly from Lancelot.

Either way the Halo soon followed with a direct english translation of the sentence without any error at all. Perhaps now she would think the object was merely a technological device rather than a mystical symbol relating to her faith. But the truth was that even Raijin did not know if Lancelot was an extraterestrial being or a celestial one.

Either way, the woman seemed to buy it, or had dicided not to presue the matter any further, no matter how strange it seemed to get one word into thirteen. Either way, she nodded, allowing her gaze to flicker to the curious object in question. Maybe he needed to reprogram it?

"No harm done."

Hey, it could of been worse, right? Either way, Calista waved it off with a dismissive movement of one hand. "So, I can safely guess your not from anywhere close by, hm?" The smile reappered on her face. "Doing the tourist-thing, then?"

"Something like that."

Were the words she would hear in english after they were translated into english by the Halo. Soon, as if it were a reward, the object was moved away from his armpit. But the truth was that it did not stink in there at all. Even someone with no memories could keep up personal hygiene. Of course that was once all the pranks by Lancelot were over.

Cruel ones like telling Raijin that deoderant had been a white candybar in a container that you turned the dial on to get it out as you ate. Sort of like a blow-pop in the lipstick-style tube. It was an easier trick to tell him that toothpaste was candy. At least it kept the guy's mouth minty fresh.

"I see."

The woman looked amused for a moment, then glanced down at her watched and frowned. Darn, she still had to hit three more paintings before closing time. Reports didn't write themselves, after all~ But everyone most likely wished they did!

"Anyway, nice talking to you, I have to go." With a slight wave the girl turned and headed off down one of the other hallways leading into an exibit, hopefully one with lost of information she could-erm, 'recycle.'

The Amnesiac nodded before he went on his own way through the tourist attraction looking at various works of art. But none of them really rang a bell aside from looking beautiful. Soon hours went by and he merely left the structure to continue his quest for memories elsewhere.
