COMBAT INFO
- Name: Adair Vadas
- Nickname: Vad, Vas, Aed (pronounced “aid”), Aedy
- Age: 131 in human years, made a vampire at 25 in the year 1902
- Gender: Male
- Country: Hungary
- Occupation: Heir to family title and fortune
- Personality: Due to his stay at the mental ward in New Jersey, his personality has been vastly altered. While he has windows of clarity, assumes the personality of his former self, most of the time he assumes whatever identities are around him, or keeps to himself and silent. If threatened, though, he will go into a frenzy, not knowing when to stop or how serious the threat is.
There are plenty of times when he is approachable and benign, usually if a puppy, bird or kitten is in the room with him. In these times, he has the personality of a child, but the wisdom of an old man. He will be very playful and tempermental, but he understands reasons behind actions and why people do what they do (in his case, why the nurses “treated him so badly” is because they didn’t know any better on how to treat his illness).
Once these items are taken from him, though, he either becomes extremely depressed and doesn’t function or goes completely manic and into a violent temper tantrum.
Because of his exposure to animals and his love for them, he has a habit of lycanthropy, assuming the personalities and behaviors of different animals. Usually his mood is determined by what animal he assumes. - Likes: Kittens, puppies, birds, stuffed animals, sunlight, open spaces, freedom, shiny objects, rain, puzzles
- Dislikes:His objects being taken away, enclosed spaces, being tied down, drugs, liars, nurses

- Clothing: His garments from the mental ward have been altered from the pale off blue to deep charcoal grey, the belts and straps still hanging off his arms and legs. RELATIONSHIPS & HISTORY
- Relationships: Alone
- Objective: To be free, including from himself
- History: Adair was a promising offspring to the Vadas family line. Born to Lord and Lady Vadas in 1877, he was the second born to his brother, Dean. Adair didn’t mind living in the shadow of his brother; he was content to inherit the title of Blackthorn Manor while Dean was destined to become the Count of Fejér in Hungary. Unlike his brother, who grew to be elegant, dark haired and masculine, Adair grew to be lithe, long- ghost blonde hair and effeminate. Many a time his parents were embarrassed to present their son to nobility because of the obvious question they’d ask: Why dress your daughter in pants?
Regardless of his physique, Adair did his best to impress his mother and father. His mother was concerned for reputation, his father for financial stability. He developed a closer relationship to his mother due to the fact that rarely his father was pleased with Adair’s accomplishments.
One night at a ball, when Adair was 18, he met the daughter of the Duke of Pest. He courted her while they danced, and finally led her away from the crowd to kiss her. Unfortunately, her father, the Duke, caught them kissing in the garden and based on Adair’s physique, accused his daughter of being a queer. Shame was bought onto Vadas family, accusing them of undermining the aristocracy by attempting to embarrass the Duke before the highest ranks among the courts of Hungary.
Adair’s father dragged him home and tied him down to a chair, cutting off Adair’s hair with his hunting knife violently. When he was done, Adair’s father threw him into his room and locked the door, saying he wasn’t allowed to face society anymore. Adair fought for hours, smashing and banging into the door with everything he had. He had thoughts of jumping out the balcony, but his father had set the hunting dogs to patrol that side of the mansion.
At first, Adair refused to eat, lying on the floor of his room as he lost the will to fight. After a week, he was force-fed his meals by the local physician. Most of the time he just threw them back up. When he would not sleep, the physician would drug him with opium. His spark for living was nearly gone.
And then after two weeks, a hunting hawk landed on his balcony, a note tied to its ankle. It was then that Adair leaned of the girl’s name through one simple word: Sara. He cherished the note and continued to send correspondence with her as the months passed. He began eating again, color returning to his features as the seasons changed.
In the dawn of spring, Adair sent a letter to her, proposing they elope together and stow away to the hills of Ireland. Perhaps, even, escape to America. At first, Sara refused the idea in fear of he father hunting them both down. Adair dealt with the refusal as best he could, until a rushed note was delivered to him saying that she was to be married to the Duke of Bezlkhan. Adair told her to grab what valuables she could and he would do the same to escape.
He laced one of two drinks with opium, the same that was given to him when he had nearly lost the will to live. He asked to see his brother, Dean, and after the servant had left, he waited for his brother to return. He regretted what he would have to do, but he could not endure life like this anymore.
Dean came in, warning him that father would have his head for talking to Adair without supervision. Adair merely waved the notion aside as he took a sip of his drink, offering the other to Dean. He told his brother that he loved him very much, and never once hated him for being the golden first born. He made a toast in Dean’s honor, his brother replying and taking a swig of his drink. Adair watched intently as the drug began to take effect almost immediately and fled from his house, taking what he could.
What became of Adair is something of a mystery. Rumors had it that when he escaped with Sara to Ireland, a hunter was sent to bring them back. Some reports say she was killed in the fray while boarding a boat for America and that her death sent Adair into madness. One report concludes he was sent to a mental ward in New Jersey after his breakdown on the boat, but now the ward lays in ruins. And with it, Adair’s humanity. Rumor has it while in the mental ward, he was turned by a fellow bedmate. It's hard to get a coherent story when most of the witnesses are either dead or sucked dry of blood. - GROUP AFFILIATION:
